Bioactivity of Artemisia vulgaris Essential Oil and Two of Its Constituents Against the Red Flour Beetle (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

چکیده

Abstract Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) is one of the most destructive pests stored products. Although there have been studies on potential use essential oils from plants in Artemisia genus as insecticides, no comprehensive bioactivity data are available efficacy vulgaris L. (Asterales: Asteraceae) oil and its chemical constituents stored-product pests. Therefore, this study, A. constituents, eugenol terpinen-4-ol, against T. were determined by contact, fumigant, repellent bioassays. Analysis contact fumigant bioassays showed that oil, eugenol, terpinen-4-ol toxicities castaneum, which has a strong killing effect larvae adults, suggesting may be main active component effects. Additionally, higher activity whereas low, indicating repellence eugenol. These results further provide relevant theoretical basis for development plant pesticides.

Ovicidal Activity of Essential Oils against Red Flour Beetle, Tribolium Castaneum (herbst) (coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

Context: The essential oils are being tried as potential candidates for pest and disease management. Several essential oils of botanical origin have been reported for their repellant, toxic and developmental inhibitory activities. The ovicidal effect of essential oil is probably the major factor in the suppression of the development of adults from treated eggs. Objectives: To investigate the ov...

Thermal death kinetics of red flour beetle (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae).

While developing radio frequency heat treatments for dried fruits and nuts, we used a heating block system developed by Washington State University to identify the most heat-tolerant life stage of red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst), and to determine its thermal death kinetics. Using a heating rate of 15 degrees C/min to approximate the rapid heating of radio frequency treatments, th...

Insecticidal activity of garlic essential oil and their constituents against the mealworm beetle, Tenebrio molitor Linnaeus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

This study evaluated the insecticidal activity of garlic, Allium sativum Linnaeus (Amaryllidaceae) essential oil and their principal constituents on Tenebrio molitor. Garlic essential oil, diallyl disulfide, and diallyl sulfide oil were used to compare the lethal and repellent effects on larvae, pupae and adults of T. molitor. Six concentrations of garlic essential oil and their principal const...

Concentration dependent toxicokinetics of copper in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae)

To predict internal metal concentrations in animals under specific environmental exposures, the relationship between the exposure concentrations and values of toxicokinetic parameters must be known. At high exposure levels, the availability of carriers transporting metal ions through cellular membranes may become limited, thereby decreasing the assimilation rates (k A ). Furthermore, increased ...
